Einleitend in die dunklere und härtere Seite des Albums steht «Violet». Violet Jessop (1887 – 1971) ist eine herausragende Persönlichkeit, die nicht weil sie grosses geleistet hat, sondern sich als ungewöhnlich resilient erwiesen hat ausgezeichnet als Metapher der Menschheit im zwanzigsten Jahrhundert verstanden werden kann. Immer wieder hat sie sich dem System unterworfen nur um von diesem benutzt und später als Kollateralschaden abgebucht zu werden. So hat Violet Jessop nicht nur als einziger Mensch den Untergang der drei Schwesternschiffe der Olympic-Klasse überlebt, sondern auch den ersten Weltkrieg im aktiven Dienst und den zweiten Weltkrieg an der «Homefront».
