Violet Jessop (1887 - 1971) is an outstanding personality, who has achieved great things and has proven to be unusually resilient can be understood excellently as a metaphor of humanity in the twentieth century. Time and again she has submitted to the system only to be used by it and later written off as collateral damage. Thus, Violet Jessop was not only the only person to survive the sinking of the three Olympic-class sister ships, but also survived World War I on active duty and World War II on the "Homefront."
