73 Jahre nach Ende des zweiten Weltkrieg und der Judenverfolgung war es 2018 noch immer einfacher in Myanmar einen wütenden Mob zusammenzuraufen um einen ausgewachsenen Völkermord zu begehen als in Europa eine Mehrheit zur Rettung von Schiffbrüchigen Flüchtlingen im Mittelmeer zu finden. Das Lied setzt sich mit dem kulturellen und historischen Vermächtnis der einzelnen Generationen auseinander. Was wäre gewesen, hätte man nicht eine ganze Generation 1914-1918 über die Schützengräben gehen lassen? Was wäre geschehen, hätte die Wehrmacht 1942 Brot statt Tod nach Stalingrad gebracht ? Und was wäre in 50 Jahren, wenn weniger Mobiltelefone in Umlauf, dafür mehr Menschen Zugang zu Bibliotheken hätten? Beim schreiben dieses Textes wurde eine Vielzahl von Kriegstagebuchzitaten aus verschiedenen Kriegen verwendet. So zum Beispiel wurde aus «wenn man ruhig im Graben ist, hört man den Wahnsinn draussen schreien» zu «put your ear on the door and you’ll hear madness outside screaming»
